GENERAL
Your Questions
Yes. For exclusive stays, private celebrations, weddings, golf stays and privately hosted retreats, your group has exclusive use of the main house, gardens and guest facilities. Ladyburn’s own hosted retreats work slightly differently, as guests join a curated group experience while still having their own allocated accommodation. Nenah and James have their own separate private accommodation on the estate and may be on site during your stay, close by if you need us. The main house, the gardens and the wellness spaces remain entirely yours.
Ladyburn has nine en-suite bedrooms and normally accommodates up to 18 residential guests. Five bedrooms can be configured as either super-king or twin rooms, making the house particularly flexible for retreats, golf groups, families and friends travelling together. Up to two fold-out beds can be arranged where appropriate. Within the standard 18-guest occupancy, a fold-out bed costs £50 per bed, per stay. For an additional guest beyond the standard 18, a fold-out bed costs £100 per bed, per stay.
Every Ladyburn experience is tailored around the dates, length of stay, group and type of booking, so we do not publish one standard rate for all stays. Exclusive use of Ladyburn House starts from £2,250 per night, based on a two-night stay. Preferential rates may be available for longer bookings, with tailored quotations based on your dates, length of stay and requirements. Send us your preferred dates and plans and we will provide the relevant brochure, availability and a bespoke proposal.
Minimum stays vary according to the type of booking.
- Exclusive private stays are generally a minimum of two nights.
- Championship Golf stays are a minimum of three nights.
- Residential retreat venue hire is a minimum of three nights, with an extended rate for stays of four nights or more, including weekends.
- Weddings and private celebrations are normally a minimum of two nights.
Longer stays are very welcome and are priced individually. Standard check-in is from 2:00 pm and check-out is by 12:00 noon. Alternative arrangements can be agreed in advance, particularly for weddings and other bespoke bookings.
To secure a booking, we ask for a 50% deposit of the accommodation or venue-hire charge. For weddings, the deposit is 30%. The outstanding balance is due 90 days before arrival. For bookings made within 90 days of arrival, the full accommodation or venue-hire charge is payable immediately to secure the booking. Additional catering, experiences and services are confirmed separately where applicable.
The booking deposit is non-refundable. If Ladyburn successfully resells cancelled dates, we may be able to refund some or all of the deposit, taking into account the value of the replacement booking and any reasonable costs or losses incurred. For cancellations within 90 days of arrival, the full accommodation or venue-hire charge is payable. Full cancellation terms are provided in the Private Hire Agreement before a booking is confirmed.
Yes. Ladyburn has a large, fully equipped country kitchen and exclusive stays can be self-catered. Many groups also choose to add private chef catering arranged through Ladyburn, breakfasts, celebration dinners, retreat catering or one of our wood-fired pizza evenings.
External caterers can be considered by prior agreement. Ladyburn’s trusted private chefs know the house well and can provide everything from retreat catering and breakfasts to private dinners, celebration menus and pizza evenings. Any external professional supplier must meet Ladyburn’s insurance and safety requirements.

The Garden Pavilion is Ladyburn’s seasonal sailcloth pavilion, available during the warmer months subject to installation dates, availability and weather conditions. It can be used for weddings, private dining, celebrations, workshops and as a summer yoga shala for retreats. The Pavilion is not automatically included with every private house booking and can be added to eligible stays by arrangement.
Yes. Ladyburn welcomes family and multigenerational stays, although the house and grounds were not specifically designed for very young children. There is a burn, pond, woodland and uneven terrain within the estate, so children must be supervised appropriately. Travel cots and highchairs are available by arrangement. Cot bedding is not supplied. Up to two fold-out beds can also be arranged where appropriate. Within the standard 18-guest occupancy, a fold-out bed costs £50 per bed, per stay. For an additional guest beyond the standard 18, a fold-out bed costs £100 per bed, per stay.
We can welcome one dog by prior arrangement only, at £100 per stay. Please tell us when you enquire.
Honeysuckle is our ground-floor bedroom and can be configured as a super-king or twin. It has an accessible en-suite wet room. There is one step at the main entrance, and much of the ground floor is accessible, but Ladyburn is a historic property and not every part of the house or grounds is fully accessible. If anyone in your group has specific mobility requirements, please tell us before booking and we can talk through the property in detail.
Yes. Ladyburn’s trusted private chefs can accommodate most dietary requirements and food preferences with advance notice, including vegetarian and plant-based menus. Please provide all dietary requirements and allergies before your stay so the catering team can plan appropriately. If anyone has a severe allergy, let us know at enquiry stage so we can discuss the arrangements directly.
Yes. We can help arrange airport transfers, local taxis and group transport depending on your party size and itinerary. Ladyburn is approximately an hour from Glasgow Airport. Travel from Glasgow Central to Maybole by ScotRail. Depending on the service, the journey may be direct or involve a change at Ayr. Maybole station is around five minutes by car from Ladyburn House, and collection from Maybole station is complimentary for guests by prior arrangement. Airport transfers and other private transfers can be arranged at additional cost. For golf groups and organised retreats, course transfers and group transport can also be built into the itinerary.
Yes. There is ample complimentary private parking within the estate for residential guests. Please let us know in advance if your group will be arriving in a larger number of vehicles or by coach/minibus.
Ladyburn does not currently have dedicated EV charging on site. There are public charging points in the surrounding area, including Maybole. We recommend checking current availability and charging speeds before travelling.
Mobile signal inside the house can be patchy because of Ladyburn’s rural location, so we recommend enabling Wi-Fi calling on your phone. The house has fibre broadband and Wi-Fi throughout the main guest areas.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the house or guest facilities. A designated smoking area is available near the exit gate, where cigarette ends should be fully extinguished and disposed of safely.
Naked flames, including candles, are not permitted inside the house. Battery-operated candles are a lovely alternative for dinners, weddings and celebrations. Any candle use within the Garden Pavilion or other event spaces must be agreed in advance and comply with Ladyburn’s fire-safety requirements.
Ladyburn is a private country estate with neighbouring farms and homes, so we ask all guests to be considerate of the surrounding area. For general stays, outdoor noise and music should be kept to a respectful level from 10pm. For weddings and agreed events, music finishes by 11pm, with guests departing or retiring by the agreed event curfew.
No. Fireworks and similar loud outdoor activities are not permitted because of neighbouring farms, livestock, wildlife and noise considerations.
Yes, by prior agreement. Ladyburn has a trusted network of chefs, therapists, facilitators and other suppliers, but you are welcome to discuss bringing your own. External suppliers must provide appropriate Public Liability Insurance and, where relevant, PAT certification or other professional qualifications before attending the property.
Ladyburn does not require event insurance for every private stay. For weddings and larger events, we strongly recommend appropriate event or wedding insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
Yes. This is a big part of the Ladyburn experience. Depending on your group, we can help arrange private chef dining, wood-fired pizza evenings, afternoon tea, massage and holistic treatments, yoga, sound baths, breathwork, whisky tastings, Scottish experiences, outdoor activities, golf, transfers and other curated experiences. Tell us what you have in mind and we can build the stay around your group.
Not always, and that is intentional. Ladyburn is designed for guests who value privacy, thoughtful hospitality, beautiful surroundings and meaningful time together. Whether you are planning an exclusive stay, retreat, golf trip, intimate wedding or private celebration, we take time to understand what you are planning before confirming the booking so that Ladyburn is the right fit for your group.
Use the Enquire form and tell us as much or as little as you already know: preferred dates, group size and the type of stay you are considering are enough to get started. We will come back to you with availability, the relevant brochure where appropriate, and a bespoke proposal. There is no obligation and no sales script, just a conversation about what you have in mind.
